Administration seeks a recommendation on how to proceed with the method of display for the Miami Beach Hall of Fame to be located in the South Concourse of the Miami Beach Convention Center (Exhibit A). The following options have been discussed by the Neighborhood and Community Affairs Committee:
1. Interactive Digital Display
The College Football Hall of Fame has an interactive wall that houses their hall of fame. The wall is comprised of multiple touchscreen televisions that allow visitors to click on an image and receive information regarding that image or individual, as demonstrated in Exhibit A. the display was created by a company called Obscura that specializes in visual design, animation, video production, software development, tech systems, and custom fabrication.
2. Interactive Digital Display with Static Components
The Colorado State University Hall of Fame combines traditional plaques with names of each inductee, along with two interactive touch screen programs for visitors to access their database of Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. The program uses two stacked touchscreen displays that allow visitors to look through inductee information, inclusive of achievements, biographical information, photographs and video files, as demonstrated in Exhibit B. The project was installed by Pacific Studio and designed by Populous Design.
3. Stand Alone Kiosks
The use of stand-alone digital kiosks was suggested as more affordable alternative, which range in price from $2,000 to $5,000 per kiosk.
4. Static Display with Plaques and/or Photographs
Finally, a static display with plaques or photographs of each inductee has been suggested as a more traditional approach to creating the Hall of Fame.
Exhibit B shows a rendering of a potential uses, including a fully static wall; a half static and half digital wall; and a 15% static and 85% digital wall.
