A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD/COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO HOLD A JOB FAIR FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS LIVING IN MIAMI BEACH, AS REQUESTED BY THE YOUTH COMMISSION.

At the January 17, 2018 Commission meeting, Item C4AI referred the Youth Commission request for city support with a job fair in partnership with the MIami Beach Chamber of Commerce to the Neighborhoods and Community Affairs Committee (NCAC).  At the March 21, 2018 NCAC, item C4AI was discussed and staff was directed to reach out to the Miami Beach Chamber to discuss support from members for a youth job fair.     Conversations with the Miami Beach Chamber did not yield interest in business participation in a youth job fair.   As such, the Youth Commission requested support from the City at their May meeting to have the City host a job fair and contact Miami Beach business directly to gauge interest.    

At the May 22, 2018 NCAC, members requested staff identify local business to encourage participation in a youth job fair.   A request for the Parks and Recreation department to facilitate a job fair was requested, with support from Organizational Development Performance Initiatives.
