At the October 18, 2017 City Commission meeting, Resolution No. 2017-30053 (Exhibit A) was approved authorizing the City to accept a donation from The Trust For Public Land (TPL), a non-profit corporation established in 1972 to conserve land for people and create parks, gardens, trails and other special places, ensuring livable communities for generations to come, in the total amount of $120,000, for the construction and installation of outdoor fitness equipment which will be located in the area approved through the Flamingo Park Master Plan.
TPL gratefully received funding to support this project through a grant awarded by TD Bank, which in turn requires them to meet particular grant requirements. One of the requirements is the placement of a “Welcome to your Flamingo Park Fitness Zone” sign which include the TPL logo, TD Bank logo and the City of Miami Beach logo in English and Spanish (Exhibit B). The dimensions of each of the signs will be 25.625” x 39” and will be located on the NW side of the fitness zone as depicted in Exhibit C.
The second requirement is to include donor recognition plaques, which are circular signs with the TD Bank logo, which says “Thanks to TD Bank for their generous support of this project” (Exhibit D). The plaques will go below the instructional signage on 6 of the 9 pieces of equipment. The sign is 7” in diameter. Exhibit E shows a sample photo of the signage on a piece of equipment.
With the target completion date of this project being December 2018, this item is being requested to be placed on the July 24, 2018 Planning Board Meeting and the recommendation will be placed on the September 12, 2018 City Commission Agenda to set a Public Hearing for October 17, 2018 for approval.
