Please place on the May 16, 2018 City Commission Agenda, a referral to the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee (FCWP) to consider a youth cyber behavior and safety program for residents and their families.

There is no question that there are few aspects in the lives of youth today that are not connected to or influenced by technology. With a greater access to information and networking, our kids also take an excessive amount of risk in their everyday digital choices, which can have long-term effects on their mental, social and emotional health.

For this reason, I would like the City to consider a budget enhancement to include a community cyber behavior and safety program aimed at youth and their families in Miami Beach. This would be a direct complement to the behavioral health program funding our City has deemed important to provide for the benefit of students in our schools.
