The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission refer this item to the Neighborhood/Community Affairs Committee for discussion.

BACKGROUND

A Citywide Procedure entitled “Traffic Flow Mitigan Plan” updated in January 2016 defines major thoroughfares in Miami Beach and is intended to ensure the maximization of traffic flow on major thoroughfares in the City at all times of the day.

Resolution No. 2016-29506, adopted by the City Commission on July 13, 2016, accepted the recommendation of the Neighborhood/Community Affaris Committee to adopt a policy that all future special events requiring lane closures along major thoroughfares in Miami Beach obtain City Commission approval.

Ordinance No. 2016-4065, adopted by the City Commission on December 14, 2016, amended the fees and hours regarding permits for blocking of right-of-way on major thoroughfares in the City.

The Administration wishes to review the City’s current lane closure policies to ensure that it reflects the direction of the Commission.
