On June 11, 2014 the City Commission adopted the Complimentary Ticket Policy ("Policy") pursuant to Resolution No. 2014-28638. As detailed in the Policy, the City Manager's Office prepared a list of deserving organizations and groups eligible to receive complimentary tickets given to the City of Miami Beach by cultural and entertainment partners.
Also pursuant to this Policy, the list of eligible organizations is to be reviewed and approved on an annual basis by the Neighborhood and Community Affairs Committee (NCAC), and approved by the City Commission.
On March 21, 2018, the NCAC reviewed the existing list of 41 eligible organizations and proposed the addition of two new organizations to the list: Miami Beach United and the Latin Chamber of Commerce, bringing the list to a total of 43 organizations.
At the April 11, 2018 meeting of the Mayor and City Commission, an item approving this recommendation was placed on the agenda and then referred for discussion at a Committee of the Whole.
On April 27, 2018, the Committee of the Whole met and discussed various aspects of the Policy, including the list of eligible organizations. The Committee recommended removing the two new additions to the list, and approving the exisiting list of 41 organizations as eligible to receive complimentary tickets pursuant to the Policy.
