Please place on the May 16, 2018 City Commission Agenda, a referral to the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee (FCWP) to consider continuing the Digital Citizen coding bootcamp for residents of Miami Beach.

The Digital Citizen Bootcamp is a free, comprehensive and intensive eight-week training program that provides technical website coding expertise to Miami Beach residents. The first of its two series began on January 23, 2018 in North Beach and a second on March 28, 2018 in South Beach for both Mid and South Beach residents. The program attracted over 160 interested residents, business owners and employees to sign up with 25 North Beach participants and 25 Mid/South Beach participants being selected and chosen at random via a lottery draw.

Due to the overwhelming interest in the training and the positive feedback from participants, I would like the Committee to explore extending the program to provide additional courses to Miami Beach residents. The program flyers in English and Spanish are included.
