Please place on the May 16, 2018 City Commission Agenda, a dual referral to the Quality Education Committee (QEC) and the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee (FCWP) to consider a City sponsorship of a Miami Beach Senior High School scholarship.

The Miami Beach Senior High School Alumni Association provides current students with mentors and scholarships annually. In the past few years, the organization has provided nearly $200,000 in scholarships to students accepted to multiple universities around the state of Florida and the United States.

I would like to gauge the appetite of the City Commission and Administration to contribute a city-sponsored scholarship through the MBSHS Alumni Association. The City Commission and Administration has numerous alumni that have returned to the City after college to provide their expertise and leadership skills to provide excellent public service and safety to all who live, work and play in our vibrant, tropical, historic community.

Sponsorship levels are: Gold $1000, Platinum $2500 or Diamond $5000. I attach a scholarship sponsor form for review. For additional information, please contact my office at extension 6437.
