Please place on the October 18, 2017 City Commission agenda, a referral to the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee to analyze our City's current valet services and operators and compare to other successful valet models to improve services.

Residents have raised concerns to me regarding suboptimal customer service from valet services in their neighborhoods, which have produced unsafe conditions for both vehicles and pedestrians. It would be beneficial to better understand the issues and overall situation in Miami Beach. 

Furthermore, it would be worth exploring "best practice" business models utilized by other municipalities, such as the sole-operator approach employed by the Design District in the City of Miami, to learn whether other concepts would be viable and profitable in the City of Miami Beach. The analysis should include input from the Parking, Transportation and Planning Departments and could also consider dividing the city into valet zones such as North Beach, Mid-Beach and South Beach for customized service delivery.
