SUBJECT:REQUEST FOR APPROVAL TO ISSUE REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) NO. 2017-237-ND, FOR FRICTION TESTING SERVICES FOR SPECIALTY SURFACE CROSSWALKS.

RECOMMENDATION

Authorize the issuance of the RFQ.

ANALYSIS

The City of Miami Beach is seeking to qualify a firm to conduct inventory friction testing on stamped asphalt crosswalks within the City of Miami Beach.  The City of Miami Beach (City) has a maintenance agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to conduct inventory friction testing on state roadways within the City that have received specialty surface crosswalks. There are approximately 95 intersections within the City limits that have stamped asphalt crosswalks ranging from one to four sides of the intersection.

 

The selected firm shall provide a detailed analysis of the friction data collected. This would include a statistical analysis of the different functional classifications of highway as well as pavement type. The report should include a detailed description of the equipment used and testing procedures followed, data gathered and an analysis.

  • CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION.  Please Reference Section 0400, Page 14, RFQ 2017-237-ND for Friction Testing Services for Specialty Surface Crosswalks (attached).


CONCLUSION

The Administration recommends that the Mayor and Commission authorize the issuance of the RFQ 2017-237-ND for Friction Testing Services for Specialty Surface Crosswalks is subject to funds availability approved through the City’s budgeting process.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Grant funding will not be utilized for this project.
