SUBJECT:	REFERRAL TO THE SUSTAINABILITY AND RESILIENCY COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER A SOLAR POWER SHOWCASE PROJECT WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.

ANALYSIS

Please place on the June 7, 2017 City Commission Agenda, a referral to the Sustainability and Resiliency Committee to discuss the creation of a solar power showcase project for the City of Miami Beach.

This concept originated at the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Panel on Sea Level Rise. The intent of the showcase is to provide a model for solar power implementation that can be used to educate the public about clean energy as we strive to become one of the 100 cities to provide 100% clean energy.

This solar power showcase project could be designed and installed to power any one of several municipal projects, among them the Sunset Harbour Green Space Fountain (see attached image). The project could be completed potentially in conjunction with a partner organization such as Tesla or other entity.
