Please place a discussion item on the Commission agenda, to have Miami Beach commit to ensure that all its government buildings will be powered by 100% renewable electricity.
Attached please find an article from Clean Technica, dated April 11, 2017, entitled Chicago Set To Become First Major US City To Be Powered 100% By Renewable Electricity. The City of Chicago has committed to ensure that all government buildings will be powered by 100% renewable electricity by 2025, which would make it the country’s largest major city to power all their public buildings from 100% renewable electricity. The Chicago commitment will make use of a combination of renewable energy credits, utility-supplied renewable energy, and on-site generation, with initial purchases set to begin in 2018 and 2019.
I would like the City of Miami Beach to make a similar commitment, ensuring that all our government buildings will be powered by 100% renewal electricity in the near future.
