ANALYSIS

The City takes great pride in maintaining its inventory of contributing structures located in one of the City’s local historic districts as well as those structures registered in the national registry for historic buildings. Recently, on March 22, 2024, Senate Bill 1526 was signed into law with an immediate effective date.  Now, more than ever, it is extremely important that the general public receive notification of any proposed demolition of contributing structure located in one of the City’s local historic districts as well as those structures registered in the national register for historic buildings.  This notification would enable impacted stakeholders to be notified as soon as possible of an application for a proposed demolition as the demolition directly impacts public safety and our resident’s quality of life.

Administration should be directed to issue a LTC upon receipt of an application for demolition of any contributing structure in a local historic district or have been registered in the national register for historic buildings.
