ANALYSIS

It has come to my attention that many of the City’s residents are unaware of how to report a code violation on-line, and so are deeply upset that the relevant City department isn't acting on a neighborhood nuisance or safety issue.

While it would be lovely for all issues to be noticed by staff before they become a burden to our residents, that isn't possible.  Residents are our first line of defense in identifying problems, and having them notice the City staff asap will result in faster and better action being taken in a timely manner.  While it's not residents' "job" to do so, it takes a village, and we have an excellent app to which our staff is extremely responsive, and we should ensure that all residents know about it and how to use it for maximum benefit.

Administration should be prepared to discuss and educate the public on how to report Code violations either on-line, via the City's app or via e-mail to the appropriate department.
