| At its November 14, 2023 meeting, the City’s Committee for Quality Education unanimously adopted a motion requesting the Mayor and City to collaborate with local partners and the City’s Parks and Recreation Department to organize a teacher appreciation event during the month of May on an annual basis. Teacher Appreciation Week takes place countrywide in the first full week of May, and National Teacher’s Day is celebrated on every Tuesday of that week.
The City has the opportunity to create a memorable experience that celebrates the selfless dedication of teachers in Miami Beach. I wholeheartedly endorse the Committee’s motion and hope my colleagues lend their support to this worthy cause. As part of this discussion, I request that the Parks Department share their ideas for the Teacher Appreciation Event.
