Please place on the June 28, 2023 agenda a referral to the July 13, 2023 Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee to discuss the attached ordinance (to be provided via supplemental agenda) for weapons detection systems at alcoholic beverage establishments. 

Like nearly all other areas in South Florida, the City continues to experience public safety issues, including, but not limited to, violent, disorderly and criminal behavior.  Many of these incidents involve the use of various types of weapons and, in addition to public safety concerns, these incidents present a negative impression of the City and our region.  Accordingly, I would request that the City Attorney’s Office and City Administration be prepared to address the various issues surrounding the use of weapons detection systems at alcoholic beverage establishments at the July 13, 2023 PSNQLC meeting.
