COMMISSION MEMORANDUM |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | TO: | Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission | | FROM: | Commissioner Steven Meiner | | DATE: | June 28, 2023 | | |
| SUBJECT: | DISCUSS AND PROVIDE UPDATE REGARDING THE SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE CITY’S NEXT POLICE CHIEF. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| Providing a safe and secure environment for our residents and visitors to live, work and play is the most important duty of our City government, and the Chief of Police is a critical position in successfully fulfilling that responsibility. Accordingly, and in anticipation of the upcoming retirement of Chief Clements in October 2023, I would request a discussion and update from the City Manager concerning the selection process for the City’s next Chief of Police as, pursuant to Section 4.02 of the City Charter, the City Manager appoints the Chief of Police, subject to the consent of the City Commission. |
