COMMISSION MEMORANDUM

TO:Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission
FROM:Vice-Mayor Steven Meiner
DATE:February  1, 2023

SUBJECT:DISCUSSION, WITH POSSIBLE ACTION, REGARDING THE CITY'S IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NOISE METER AND CAMERA PILOT PROGRAM.

RECOMMENDATION

I would like to discuss the City Administration’s progress in implementing the Noise Meter and Camera Pilot Program.  The constant and continuous instances of unreasonable and excessive noise caused by the revving of engines, vehicle exhausts and/or vehicular sound systems has generated an abundance of complaints from City residents who have been deprived of the peaceful enjoyment of their homes due to such illegal and nuisance vehicular noises. In response, on July 8, 2022, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. 2022-32208, which approved and authorized the City Administration to establish a Noise Meter and Camera Pilot Program in the City.

Accordingly, as part of this item, I would ask that the Police Department be prepared to provide the City Commission with an update on the implementation of the Pilot Program as the City has leased and received three noise cameras.
