SUBJECT:

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO ALLOCATE $5,000,000.00 FROM THE RESILIENCY FUND FOR A PILOT PROGRAM TO REDUCE NUISANCE FLOODING IN TWO OF THE “HOTSPOT” NEIGHBORHOODS THAT THE ADMINISTRATION HAS PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED AS BEING PRONE TO SIGNIFICANT FLOODING; FURTHER, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO EVALUATE AND CONDUCT OUTREACH TO POTENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS TO IDENTIFY AND RECOMMEND THE TWO “HOTSPOT” NEIGHBORHOODS WITH THE GREATEST NEED AND INTEREST IN THE PILOT RESILIENCY PROJECT, WITH THE CITY COMMISSION’S FINAL APPROVAL OF THE TWO RECOMMENDED NEIGHBORHOOD “HOTSPOT” PROJECTS TO BE DETERMINED AT THE JUNE 22, 2022 CITY COMMISSION MEETING.

 


ANALYSIS

Pursuant to the request of Commissioner Mark Samuelian, the above-referenced Resolution is submitted for consideration by the Mayor and City Commission at the April 6, 2022 Commission meeting.

 

Agenda item R7 K references a March 4, 2022 Land Use and Sustainability Committee memorandum.  A copy of the memorandum is attached hereto.
