SUBJECT:	REFERRAL TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD/COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO OFFER MIAMI BEACH AS A PILOT CITY FOR UBER SELF-DRIVING CARS.

ANALYSIS

Please place a referral to the Neighborhood/Community Affairs Committee to offer Miami Beach as a pilot city for Uber self-driving cars.

A year and a half ago, Uber set up an Advanced Technologies Center (ATC) in Pittsburgh, with the mission to make self-driving Ubers a reality. Today, self-driving Ubers are now on the road in Pittsburgh.

Such a pilot program is a big step forward, as real world testing is critical to the success of this technology. Self-driving Ubers have the potential to reduce traffic accidents, free up parking and cut congestion.
