| Todd Michael Glaser has approached the City of Miami Beach with the concept of reinventing the area generally bound by 14th Street to 16th Street and Bay Road to Alton Court. His idea is to create a zoning overlay that would transform the old single-family and multifamily buildings in the area into a resilient neighborhood that prioritizes the pedestrian experience and attracts locals through the use of luscious landscaping and small retail spaces tailored for boutique shops and restaurants. The area would also prohibit undesirable uses such as pawn shops, tattoo studios, hostels, stand-alone bars, and others. The proposed zoning language is attached for review.
If the City Commission is interested in exploring this proposal further, then I ask for it to be referred to the Land Use and Development Committee for discussion. |
