Please place on the January 16, 2019 City Commission meeting a referral to the Finance & Citywide Projects Committee (FCWPC) to discuss the potential installation of historical markers in an effort to better celebrate City of Miami Beach historic figures and events.

State sponsored markers under the auspices of the State of Florida Historical Marker Program are large, attractive and can make an impact on our community history for both residents and visitors.  Each marker costs $1900 which is directly paid to the state and installed in under a year from the time of application. 

Attached is a more detailed description of the markers and the initiative, alongside a list of potential initial markers to consider.
