COMMISSION MEMORANDUM |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | TO: | Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission | | FROM: | Commissioner Ricky Arriola | | DATE: | January 16, 2019 | | |
| SUBJECT: | DISCUSS PERMITTING OPERABLE STOREFRONTS TO BE APPROVED ADMINISTRATIVELY. |

| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| Buenos Aires Bakery is an anchor business in North Beach. They are currently in the process of moving their business from Collins Avenue to 71st Street. The owners of the Buenos Aires Bakery wish to incorporate an operable storefront into their new location to create a welcoming environment for both customers and pedestrians. However, because doing so would require going through the expensive and burdensome Design Review Board process, the owners have chosen to forgo this upgrade. I want to gauge the Commission's desire streamline this process and allow planning staff to approve requests to build operable storefronts on commercial streets administratively. |
