COMMISSION MEMORANDUM |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | TO: | Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission | | FROM: | Commissioner Ricky Arriola | | DATE: | January 16, 2019 | | |
| SUBJECT: | DISCUSS HOLDING A CALL TO ARTISTS TO PAINT THE NORTH BEACH WATER TANKS AND THE WESTERN FACADE OF THE BYRON CARLYLE. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| Please place this discussion item on the December 12, 2018 City Commission agenda.
Murals can be a useful tool to build community pride as well as spur economic development at the local level. There are several public spaces in North Beach that have an opportunity to be transformed into unique gathering spaces. I ask that the City Commission consider holding a call to artists to create an art piece on the water tanks on the west side of Dickens Avenue between 73rd & 75th Street and the western facade of the Byron Carlyle. I am also open to exploring other locations around North Beach that would benefit from public murals. |
