Miami Beach does not currently allow for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to be rented within single-family home districts. Many progressive municipalities in Florida and across the country recognize ADUs as a tool to address housing affordability for both lessors and lessees. I ask the Land Use and Development Committee to consider permitting the lease of ADUs as an accessory use in single-family zoning districts, so long as the leases run a minimum of six months and one day.
