| | SUBJECT: | A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2016, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AN ADVISORY, NONBINDING STRAW BALLOT QUESTION ASKING WHETHER THE CITY SHOULD CONSTRUCT A NEW FIRE STATION (“FIRE STATION PROJECT”) ON THE SOUTH PARKING LOT OF FLAMINGO PARK TO REPLACE THE EXISTING FIRE STATION NO. 1, LOCATED AT 1050 JEFFERSON AVENUE, WHICH FIRE STATION PROJECT WOULD ALSO INCLUDE PARKING AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE (“PAL”) FACILITY REPLACING THE EXISTING PAL FACILITY AT 999 11TH STREET. |

| | Pursuant to the request of Vice-Mayor Michael Grieco, the following advisory, nonbinding straw ballot question has been prepared for a Special Election to be held in the City of Miami Beach on November 8, 2016. The proposed ballot question asks whether the City should construct a new fire station (“Fire Station Project”) on the south parking lot of Flamingo Park to replace the existing Fire Station No. 1, located at 1050 Jefferson Avenue, which Fire Station Project would also include parking and the construction of a new Police Athletic League (“PAL”) facility replacing the existing PAL facility at 999 11th Street. |
