| SUBJECT: | A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2016, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AN ADVISORY, NONBINDING STRAW BALLOT QUESTION ASKING WHETHER THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION SHOULD APPROVE A MONTHLY STORMWATER UTILITY FEE INCREASE OF APPROXIMATELY $6 PER RESIDENTIAL UNIT (OR EQUIVALENT RESIDENTIAL UNIT), TO FUND A PORTION OF THE CITY’S PROGRAM TO RAISE STREETS AND INSTALL STORMWATER PUMPS TO ADDRESS FLOOD MITIGATION AND SEA LEVEL RISE. |

| Pursuant to the request of Vice-Mayor Michael Grieco, the following advisory, nonbinding straw ballot question has been prepared for a Special Election to be held in the City of Miami Beach on November 8, 2016. The proposed ballot question asks whether the Mayor and City Commission should approve a monthly stormwater utility fee increase of approximately $6 per residential unit (or equivalent residential unit), to fund a portion of the City’s program to raise streets and install stormwater pumps to address flood mitigation and sea level rise. |
