Due to the fact, that the election on November 8, 2016 is a Presidential Election, and that the current ballot would include State and County ballot questions, as well as two previously approved City questions, I would like to make a motion that no straw ballot questions be placed on the November Election ballot.

Although the Miami-Dade County Election Department does not place a limit on municipalities on the number of ballots it may place, I would like to remind my colleagues that the lengthy ballot in the 2012 Presidential Election is what led to long lines. The Miami-Dade County Elections Department has made great strides over the past few years to expedite the voting process in this election cycle, and being mindful of this, I would ask that you consider the ballot length to ensure that our voters have the opportunity to complete their ballot in a timely manner, whenever possible.
