| Please place the above item on the May 15, 2024 City Commission meeting agenda as a referral to the Land Use and Sustainability Committee (“LUSC”).
I would like the LUSC to discuss adopting increased security requirements for nightclubs and other late-night drinking establishments. This should include requiring businesses to provide security plans, occupancy load monitoring, ID checks, magnetometers, wanding, and review by the Miami Beach Police Department. I would also like the LUSC to consider adopting these requirements as part of the conditional use permit (CUP) review process. My intent is to protect residents, employees, and visitors from the adverse impacts of these establishments on public safety and residents’ quality of life. |
