| | SUBJECT: | A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY NEIGHBORHOODS AND QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE, AT ITS MARCH 20, 2024, MEETING, TO APPROVE BRITTANY BAY PARK AS THE PERMANENT LOCATION FOR THE YEAR-ROUND EXHIBITION OF THE WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH PLACARDS RECENTLY DISPLAYED IN THE LUMMUS PARK AREA DURING MARCH OF 2023. |

| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND/HISTORY
| During the April 28, 2023 Commission meeting, a discussion was referred to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee (“PSNQLC”) by Commissioner Laura Dominguez to discuss the Miami Beach Commission for Women’s recommendation for the City to find a permanent location for the year-round exhibition of the Women’s History Month placards recently displayed in the Lummus Park area during March of 2023 (Exhibit A). |

| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| During the March 20, 2024 PSNQLC meeting, the Committee approved Brittany Bay Park as the permanent location for the year-round exhibition of the Women’s History Month placards recently displayed in the Lummus Park area during March of 2023. The park, located at 6430 Indian Creek Drive, is a great location as it is a recently renovated waterfront park. Since reopening, the park has experienced an increase in activity, including passersby.

| | The original installation in Lummus Park included 11 placards. The installation cost for each placard in Brittany Bay Park is estimated at $1,800-3,000 per placard. The total estimated cost to install all 11 placards ranges between $19,800 and $33,000. The cost to replace the design on each placard is estimated at around $500 per placard. The Parks and Recreation Department would use current operating funds to complete this project. The recommended installation method is similar to that of park signs, which allows for ease of replacement as needed. |
