| | | |
| | | | | | | | | TO: | Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission | | | FROM: | Rafael E. Granado, City Clerk | | | DATE: | May 15, 2024 | | | |
| | SUBJECT: | A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE MAYOR'S APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONER DAVID SUAREZ AS THE CITY'S DESIGNEE TO THE MIAMI-DADE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING ORGANIZATION'S GOVERNING BOARD. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| Attached for your consideration, I am submitting Mayor Meiner’s appointment of Commissioner David Suarez as the City of Miami Beach's designee to the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization's Governing Board (TPO).
The TPO Board plays a crucial role in approving Federally required plans and transportation policies. The Board is vested with significant responsibilities, including the final decision on all policy matters, adoption of transportation plans and programs, approval of budgets, and adoption of rules, among others.
Previously, Commissioner David Richardson represented the City of Miami Beach on the TPO Governing Board. However, with Commissioner Richardson no longer serving on the City Commission, it is imperative to appoint a new member to fulfill this role.
At the May 15, 2024, City Commission meeting, Mayor Meiner respectfully requests that the City Commission ratify the appointment of Commissioner David Suarez as the City of Miami Beach's designee to the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization's Governing Board.
