ANALYSIS

Please place on the March 13, 2024 agenda a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee to discuss Normandie Sud Homeowners Association’s (the “HOA’s”) 2024 priorities, including re-naming of the HOA’s neighborhood.

The HOA has communicated its 2024 priorities, which consist of the following:

 1)    Renaming and rebranding the southern side of Normandy Isle from Normandy Sud to Normandy Bay (or another more attractive and recognizable name) and creating marquees and signage for Normandy Isle on the east side of the fountain at the entrance to Normandy Isle and the western entrance to the island, and on the south side of the island with the new name Normandy Bay (or whichever name is ultimately chosen).

 2)    Gating the south side of Normandy Isle, similar to the north side, Normandy Shores.

 3)    Improving landscaping in the public areas, parks, and swales on the southern side of Normandy Isle.

Renaming and rebranding Normandie Sud is the HOA’s highest priority. While the aspect of naming or re-naming a neighborhood is not within the scope of Chapter 82 of the City Code, it is prudent to adhere to the processes outlined in Section 82-503(b)(1) to ensure transparency and public participation in such decisions.
