SUBJECT:DISCUSS/TAKE ACTION, LIMIT AMOUNT OF PRINTED MATERIALS FOR BOARDS AND COMMITTEES, INCLUDING: HARD COPIES OF AGENDAS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AND COST SAVING PURPOSES; AND RECYCLE PRINTED MATERIALS.

RECOMMENDATION

In an effort to be more environmentally focused and fiscally responsible, an ordinance to reduce the amount of paper used in printing agendas for all commission, commission committees and board committees. Unless specifically requested otherwise, the default will be not to print agendas and encourage elected officials, appointed board members and city staff to rely on online published agendas through electronic devices. In addition, beginning next Commission, all Agendas will be digital. 

 

In addition, it could be beneficial to partner with an organization in order to recycle the printed agendas that are no longer needed or to reuse them as recycled paper for those who would like their materials printed.

Due to the high volume of printed materials for all boards and committee meetings and the respective environmental implications of this continued paper waste. As well as in the interest of spearheading increased environmental leadership from the Miami Beach City Commission. 

 

We propose to reduce our impact through this first of many steps.
