| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
|
I would like to refer a discussion item to the Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee (the “Committee”) to consider the unanimous recommendation made by the City’s Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board, at its December 4, 2023 meeting, and set forth in LTC 555-2023, a copy of which is attached as Exhibit A. The Board urged the City to explore budgeting for additional access mats and related storage for special events held on the beach, such as Formula 1, Art Basel, Air & Sea Show, and other events, in order to provide greater accessibility for attendees.
The City already utilizes Mobi-Mats at select beach entrances throughout the City, which are specially designed mats that allow safe beach access surface for those who are mobility impaired.
By investing in these accessibility measures, we will not only demonstrate our dedication to inclusivity but also bolster the reputation of our City as an accommodating and welcoming destination for all individuals. I urge the Committee to consider allocating the necessary resources towards the procurement of additional access mats and the establishment of appropriate storage facilities to support these initiatives.
