| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| Please place on the January 31, 2024 City Commission meeting agenda a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee to discuss and educate the public on the current provisions of the City code regarding property maintenance obligations.
I’ve received multiple complaints from residents regarding the current property maintenance obligations of owners in connection with rats, mice, roaches and other vermin in common areas. I would like for the City’s Code Compliance Department to be prepared to discuss the current property maintenance requirements, as codified in Chapter 58, including: (1) what is the process and procedure for a resident to notify the City regarding rats, mice, roaches or other vermin, which pose an immediate peril or threat to the health, safety or general welfare of the occupants and the general public in both occupied and vacant structures; (2) what are the enforcement procedures including issuance of a notice of violation; and (3) the process for the violator's failure to comply. |
