Please place a discussion to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee ("PSNQLC") to discuss upcoming Miami-Dade County Venetian Causeway Bridge Repair/Replacement Projects.
The successful implementation of the recently completed Venetian Island Water and Sewer Main Replacement Project underscores the need for the City to do everything it can to mitigate the impacts of construction for the benefit of our residents. I commend our Administration for its public information campaign with respect to the water/sewer main project, and the significant efforts to regularly update residents on the various changes to the flow of traffic, bus and trolley service, the use of crosswalks, and other issues that arose during the construction of this critical infrastructure project.
Miami-Dade County is currently planning certain repair or replacement projects for 11 of the 12 County-owned bridges along the Venetian Causeway. As part of this referral, I would ask staff to arrange for a County representative to attend the Committee meeting, to update the Committee as to the current condition of the bridges, and provide relevant information about the projects, including the anticipated project schedule and traffic plan. Most importantly, I ask for our Administration to work with Miami-Dade County to identify how the City could assist the County in expediting the work and/or facilitating the critical public outreach efforts.
