COMMITTEE MEMORANDUM

TO: Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee Members

FROM:
Alina T. Hudak, City Manager

DATE: July 28, 2023

SUBJECT:

DISCUSSION REGARDING TYLER TECHNOLOGIES PERFORMANCE AND STRATEGY FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH

ANALYSIS:

In July 2022, the Information Technology (IT) Department discussed upgrade and training plans for various Tyler systems in coordination with city departments to prioritize departmental needs and performance. IT coordinated testing, training, and deployment of EnerGov and Munis’ upgraded versions of software on upgraded IT infrastructure. The joint effort provided more system stability, a streamlined and robust training and testing plan, and the opportunity to leverage new features to improve services. The department continues to coordinate with Tyler to maximize their investment and streamline services as it looks to complete a robust assessment of the technology and identify potential gaps.

CONCLUSION:

The Administration seeks to provide an update regarding Tyler’s suite of products, including Munis, EnerGov, and New World systems. Additionally, the Administration seeks to review current city-wide improvements, a roadmap of additional technologies and features, and provide recommendations for improved services. The IT Department remains committed to working with Tyler and City departments to improve services until such time that a decision can be made regarding its future.
