SUBJECT:REFERRAL TO THE FINANCE AND ECONOMIC RESILIENCY COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS USING THE FUTURE 1045 JEFFERSON AVENUE SITE AS A POLICE AND FIRE TRAINING FACILITY. 

ANALYSIS

The current function of Fire Station No. 1 is set to move to a new facility to be built where the South Shore Community Center currently sits, leaving the current station's building vacant. In an effort to plan for the future while addressing the needs of our City, I ask the Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee to discuss renovating the historic building at 1045 Jefferson Ave and possibly expanding it to serve as a joint training facility for both the Police and Fire Departments, so that they can continue to deliver excellent public safety services for our residents and visitors.
