On February 1, 2023, at the request of Commissioner Laura Dominguez, the Mayor and City Commission approved the referral of item C4 R to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee (PSNQLC) to discuss and recommend naming a public facility in honor of Commissioner Mark Samuelian.

Commissioner Mark Samuelian served the City of Miami Beach from 2017 until his passing in 2022. Commissioner Samuelian reflected great devotion to the City and its residents. He was an advocate for community engagement and Residents’ Right to Know. Commissioner Samuelian formerly chaired the City’s Sustainability and Resiliency Committee and was a member of the Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee. He also served as past president of Miami Beach United. He is remembered as a man of principle, who served with honor, integrity, and character.  

Upon review of Commissioner Laura Dominguez’s request, the Administration recommends honoring the life and accomplishments of Commissioner Mark Samuelian with a memorial plaque to be installed on the bridge located on 17^th Street and Purdy Avenue (the Project).

The Project will consist of installation of the commemorative plaque, including design, fabrication, and installation. The total cost for this Project is approximately $1,500.00.
