FROM:
Alina T. Hudak, City Manager

DATE: February 28, 2023

SUBJECT:

DISCUSSION REGARDING THE MAXIMUM DISTANCE SEPARATION FOR VALET STORAGE FROM THE VALET POINT OF SERVICE LOCATION.

HISTORY:

Ordinance 2015-3963 established consolidation of valet parking ramps to one (1) parking valet ramp within a street block (excluding Ocean Drive).  It also requires a valet operational plan which must include a traffic operations analysis and vehicle storage locations at a distance of no more than 2,500 feet from the valet ramp.  Distances greater than 2,500 feet may be approved by the City Manager.

ANALYSIS

This ordinance addresses valet operations with ramps on public right of way. The distance requirement was established to reduce delays at a ramp on public property as well as minimize traffic impacts.  This ordinance does not apply to private valet operations.

CONCLUSION:

This information is provided to facilitate the discussion of the maximum distance between valet ramping and vehicle storage.
