SUBJECT:REFERRAL TO THE LAND USE AND SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS THE FLOODING OF PRIVATE PROPERTY DURING TROPICAL STORM ALEX FOLLOWING THE INSTALLATION OF IMPROVED STORM WATER DRAINAGE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL INFRASTRUCTURE. 

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

Please place a on the July 20, 2022, agenda of the City Commission a referral to the Land Use and Sustainability Committee to discuss the flooding of residential property in Palm Island, more specifically 269 Palm, during Tropical Storm Alex.

I would like for the Land Use and Sustainability Committee to discuss any potential improvements or corrections that could be implemented to the harmonization of the property to ensure that the raising of the road does not contribute to any future flooding. Additionally, the committee should discuss and recommend whether the cost of any potentially necessary flood prevention adaptation or improvement to protect the property from future flooding should be covered completely or partially by the City with the sole intent of preserving the public’s trust on the outcome of resiliency projects.
