COMMITTEE MEMORANDUM | | | |
| | | | | | | | TO: Land Use and Sustainability Committee
|
| FROM: Alina T. Hudak, City Manager
|
| DATE: July 7, 2022
|
| |
| | | | | | | | TITLE: | PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MAXIMUM HEIGHT REQUIREMENTS FOR ROOFTOP ADDITIONS IN THE MUSEUM HISTORIC DISTRICT |
| |
| | | | | | | | HISTORY:
| On June 22, 2022, the City Commission referred the subject Ordinance to the Land Use and Sustainability Committee (LUSC), Historic Preservation Board and the Planning Board (C4Y). The sponsor of the proposal is Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez.
The subject Ordinance is scheduled to be discussed by the Historic Preservation Board on July 12, 2022 and by the Planning Board on July 26, 2022. |
|
| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS:
| The proposed Ordinance would amend Section 142-1161(d) of the LDR’s to create a height exception provision for eligible properties located within the Museum Historic District. In this regard, existing non-contributing buildings located within the Museum Historic District, with a lot line on Collins Avenue, may be permitted to have a multi-story rooftop addition, not to exceed a maximum building height of 80 feet.
The Administration has no objections to this proposal.
|
|
| | | | | | | | CONCLUSION:
| The Administration recommends that the Land Use and Sustainability Committee endorse the subject Ordinance and recommend that the Planning Board transmit the proposal to the City Commission with a favorable recommendation. |
