Please place on the June 22, 2022 City Commission agenda a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee to discuss commercial trucks and other vehicles obstructing streets and right-of-ways to make deliveries and load/unload merchandise or even construction materials and equipment. Over time, as consumers increasingly shop online and avail themselves of delivery services, the problems with commercial vehicles blocking City streets and right-of-ways to provide such services has increased, adding to traffic and creating safety concerns as well, particularly on one-way streets.
As part of this referral, I would ask the Administration to please be prepared to address its enforcement efforts, as well as any recommendations of the Transportation and/or Parking Department for how to better manage this issue, such as identifying potential locations where the additional designated loading areas may help to mitigate the traffic and other impacts of these temporary obstructions of City’s streets and right of ways.
