SUBJECT:	REFERRAL TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS PERSONS PROMOTING PUBLIC DISTURBANCES AND LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHER CITIES.

ANALYSIS

Please place on the May 4, 2022 agenda a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee to discuss persons promoting public disturbances and the lessons learned from such incidents occurring in other cities over Spring Break 2022. By way of example are the Spring Break issues in Panama City Beach.

As part of the referral, I would request that the City Administration be prepared to discuss how the City, in particular its Police Department, would address persons organizing, inciting, promoting or influencing such public disorder in the City of Miami Beach, and any additional tools necessary for the City’s proper preparedness, in the event of such an incident or occurrence, in order to safeguard its residents and visitors.
