COMMISSION MEMORANDUM |
| | | |
| | | | | | | | TO: | Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission | | FROM: | Commissioner Steven Meiner | | DATE: | March 9, 2022 | | |
| SUBJECT: | REFERRAL TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE, TO DISCUSS ADDITIONAL DECORATIVE LIGHTING ALONG COLLINS AVENUE, FROM 5TH STREET TO 23RD STREET, AND ALONG WASHINGTON AVENUE, FROM 5TH STREET TO 17TH STREET. |

| | | | | | | | ANALYSIS
| Please place on the March 9, 2022 agenda a referral to the Public Safety and Neighborhood Quality of Life Committee to discuss various resident requests for the implementation of additional decorative lighting along Collins Avenue, from 5th Street to 23rd Street, and along Washington Avenue, from 5th Street to 17th Street. I believe this will provide for additional public safety as well as beautify the area. Recently, at the January 20, 2022 City Commission meeting, the City Commission authorized the concept of expanded lighting along Meridian Avenue and commercial areas in North Beach.
As part of the referral, I’d like to direct the Administration to be prepared to present lighting options at the Committee, including costs, available funding sources, and a time table for additional steps that may be necessary (such as a RFP), so that a recommendation may be sent back to the City Commission with detailed parameters for the implementation of this effort. |
