COMMISSION MEMORANDUM

TO:Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission
FROM:Vice-Mayor Kristen Rosen Gonzalez
DATE:March  9, 2022

SUBJECT:DISCUSSION ABOUT COMMERCIAL CHARTER BOAT LICENSES IN MIAMI BEACH.

RECOMMENDATION

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

One of the primary complaints residents have is that the 63rd Street Bridge is always up, clogging traffic and causing long wait times. This is due to the many commercial charters operating in the City of Miami Beach. This discussion will be the regulation and possible capping of commercial charter cruising licenses on Miami Beach. How many charters are currently approved? Is there a maximum amount of charter licenses the City can approve?

How can we better regulate the operators of these party cruisers that are clogging up are waterways, littering, causing noise pollution, and forcing the 63rd Street Bridge to constantly open at all times of the day.
