SUBJECT:A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE FINANCE AND ECONOMIC RESILIENCY COMMITTEE AT ITS OCTOBER 22, 2021 MEETING, APPROVING THE DONATION OF A ROUND OF GOLF FOR FOUR AT THE MIAMI BEACH GOLF CLUB AND THE NORMANDY SHORES GOLF CLUB TO THE RHYTHM FOUNDATION’S GALA SUPPORTING THE FOUNDATION’S YEAR-ROUND CULTURAL EVENTS, TOTALING A COMBINED MAXIMUM VALUE OF $1,448.00.

RECOMMENDATION

The City Administration recommends approving the donation of a round of golf for four at the Miami Beach Golf Club and the Normandy Shores Golf Club to the Rhythm Foundation’s Gala supporting the Foundation’s year-round cultural events, totaling a combined maximum value of $1,448.00.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

At the October 13, 2021 Commission meeting, a discussion item regarding the Rhythm Foundation Gala Fundraiser sponsorship request was referred to the October 22, 2021 Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee (“FERC”) meeting.

 

Attached to the item is a letter from former City Commissioner and current Rhythm Foundation Board Member, John Aleman. On behalf of the organization, the former City Commissioner has requested that the City donate a round of golf for four, for both City of Miami Beach golf courses. The certificates are for the Rhythm Foundation’s first-ever gala to be held at the North Beach Bandshell on November 11, 2021. The rounds of golf will be auctioned off during the gala to support the Foundation’s year-round cultural programs.

 

At the October 22, 2021 FERC meeting, the Committee gave a positive recommendation approving the donation of a round of golf for four at both City’s golf courses.

ANALYSIS

The issuance of these two gift certificates for a round of golf for four at both golf courses requires approval from the City Commission. Both gift certificates total a combined maximum value of $1,448.00.
