SUBJECT:REFERRAL TO THE OCTOBER 29, 2021 NEIGHBORHOOD AND QUALITY OF LIFE COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS CITY PROJECTS RELATING TO TRAFFIC CIRCLE CONFIGURATIONS, INCLUDING THE RECENTLY COMPLETED PROJECT ON MICHIGAN AVENUE AND 47TH STREET.

ANALYSIS

As part of the City’s traffic calming efforts, the City has planned a number of intersections where traffic circles will be implemented.

 

Since the Michigan Avenue and 47th Street traffic circle’s completion on October 8, 2021, I have received multiple resident complaints concerning the available amount of space vehicles have to maneuver the configuration – with at least one accident. This item aims to discuss such concerns. Moreover, the City should address the process that was taken to measure the recommended measurements for vehicular traffic.
