SUBJECT:REFERRAL TO THE LAND USE AND SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE -  DISCUSSION REGARDING WHETHER TO PROHIBIT APARTMENT HOTELS IN ADDITIONAL DISTRICTS OR THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.

ANALYSIS

Please place on the October 13, 2021 City Commission meeting agenda a referral to the Land Use and Sustainability Committee (“LUSC”) regarding whether to prohibit apartment hotels in additional districts or throughout the City of Miami Beach.

 

On August 18, 2021, the Planning Board transmitted an Ordinance to the City Commission with a favorable recommendation to prohibit apartment hotels in the R-PS1 and R-PS2 zoning districts. The Ordinance was approved on First Reading by the City Commission on September 17, 2021, and is scheduled for Second Reading and adoption on October 13, 2021.

 

I would like the LUSC to discuss whether to prohibit apartment hotels in additional districts or throughout the City of Miami Beach.
