SUBJECT:	DISCUSSION/TAKE ACTION REGARDING RETIREMENT OF CITY ATTORNEY RAUL J. AGUILA AND SELECTION OF NEW CITY ATTORNEY.

ANALYSIS

On August 30, 2021, our longtime City Attorney Raul J. Aguila delivered to the Mayor and Commissioners the attached letter, requesting an early retirement and encouraging the City Commission to swiftly appoint a new City Attorney.

At the September 9, 2021 Special Commission Meeting, I made a motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Samuelian and approved by acclamation, to post the advertisement for the City Attorney position September 13, 2021 by 5:00 p.m., to be open through October 1, 2021.

The purpose of this Item is to discuss the matters presented in Mr. Aguila's letter and to take appropriate action with regard to the selection of a new City Attorney.
